Spring in North Carolina the season for underage drinking

It's that time of year. Proms are being held, dances are being attended and students across North Carolina are enjoying spring activities. For many students, this season of activity is a whirlwind of fun and friendship. However, for some, it can also be a season of tragedy for those who fall victim to the consequences of underage drinking.

Research shows that spring is the deadliest season for North Carolina's teenagers. In fact, North Carolina holds the third place spot for the most teenage driving deaths nationwide. The reason for this has to do with the various social activities that are popular during this time period. For many, along with the dress, the tux and the date comes the inclusion of alcohol in the festivities.

One North Carolina high school recently addressed the problem with the help of their local first responders. Through the use of a mock drunk driving accident, students were able to witness first-hand the devastation that can occur without warning. The simulated accident was played out before the student body in hopes of curbing this deadly trend.

Unfortunately, some students will get caught up in the moment and decide to drink and drive. If this happens and the student is stopped by law enforcement or becomes involved in an accident, the student will have to answer to the charges before a North Carolina court. In this case, he or she will want a team experienced in underage drinking defense working on the case to make sure that his or her rights are protected.
